Maude Wright

Short Historical

"...a triumph of courage and a mother's love."

Maud Wright, a true historical character, was kidnapped by a Pancho Villa patrol on its way to raid Columbus, New Mexico. She was made to abandon her little son with a Mexican family, saw her husband and friend led off to a firing squad, and rode day and night with Villa’s army for nine days with little water and only parched corn to eat.

Escaping after the raid, she returned to Columbus determined to find her son. Her story, as told by the fictional character, Dr. Henry Grace, is a triumph of courage and a mother’s love.

To learn more, read the thrilling, provocative story of Henry Grace as he comes to terms with a friendship betrayed in Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright, The Betrayals of Pancho Villa, from Treble Heart Books.
